What are the different license models available?

Discover for ArcGIS Pro offers 3 license models, all are subscription based and will be issued with an expiry date, after which they cannot be used.

1. Standalone
This is a traditional license that is activated and locked to a specific computer hardware. It requires an internet connection to initially activate, but afterwards does not require a connection and can be used offline.
The license can be returned via the internet to the Datamine License server, and it will be released and available to activate on a different computer. There is no limit on how many times this can be done.
If the license is 'lost' due to hardware failure or reset, it can be deactivated and released by Datamine support.
A single activation key can be used to activate multiple licenses, so a company only needs 1 key for multiple users. An admin can access a customer portal, to view who has activated it. And the last time the user has opened the software.
This is generally not suitable for virtual environments as it is locked on the physical hardware.

2. Cloud Concurrent
This is a traditional network 'floating' concurrent license model, however it is hosted by Datamine on a cloud server. No local server is required. This requires an activate internet connection to use this software. On opening the software, it will attempt to obtain a license. Then when the software is closed, the license will be automatically returned, allowing someone else to use the same license.
The license can be taken offline for a fixed period of time. This will allow the computer to use the license with no internet connection. But no one else will be able to use the license while it is offline.
An admin can access a customer portal, to view who is using the licenses, and revoke (remove) them if needed. There is also advanced admin configuration, to control permissions and who uses which license, or to reserve a number of licenses to a group/pool.
This is best suited for virtual environments as it does not rely on hardware.

3. Cloud Named User

The Named User license in Discover for ArcGIS is based on a traditional floating concurrent license model. However it partially restricts the licenses to be only used by a certain user.

The workflow is as follows -
1. If you have 3 Named User licenses, and you email to your whole company your cloud server licence Client ID and password.
2. The first 3 users the start the software, and connect (activate) a license will have their windows user name automatically assign to 1 of the 3 licenses.
3. The 3 users can now use the license, on any computer, provide they login with the same Windows user name (i.e. you company's email/domain user name), and it is not opened on more than 1 computer at a time by the user
4. For the 4th user, they will not be able to take a license, even after the first 3 user close the software. To 'transfer' the license from one of the user to another, you will need to login to the cloud customer portal, and remove a user for the named user list. see the related KB for detailed instructions.
5. Once a user is removed from the user list, they will not be able to access any of the licenses for a 24hr period. This means they will not be able have the license 'transferred' back to them.

Note as this is a Cloud server license, you must be online with a internet connection to use the licence. You must take the license offline, before going offline, to continue to use it.
