If you are attempting to import ASCII data (e.g. comma delimited .CSV format) into Encom PA and this is not successfully importing information contained within a text field follow the below alternative instructions to import the ASCII data to a MapInfo .TAB file.
Please close down Encom PA and enter the following line into the Startup.etm file found in your C:\Program Files
\Encom\Encom PA directory.
\Conversion-Window\ASCII Data to MapInfo .TAB| ImportASCII.exe -PID %PID% -PA –TAB
Then save the file and reopen Encom PA.
In the Conversion menu you will find a new entry for “ASCII data to MapInfo TAB” which is exactly the same as the text import utility
we used earlier except than instead of converting the .CSV file to a GDB database it converts the .CSV file to a .TAB file. Display this data in 3D as a Points cloud and turn on the Show Labels option in the Label tab dialog of the Points Properties.
