The Discover3D window is frequently crashing, black, blank, or performance is slow

Occurrence

When I attempt to load data or pan and zoom in the 3D window, it crashes or the performance is very slow.

Solution

Ensure your graphics drivers are the latest available from the manufacturers website (e.g. Intel, Nvidia or ATI).

You can check your graphics card model by searching in the start menu for Device Manager. The graphics card is listed under Display Adapters.

Also if it is a laptop, ensure it is plugged in, as the graphics may be disabled when in battery power saving mode.

To configure laptop power switching modes, this Dell KB article explains both Nvidia and AMD settings and is applicable to any brand of laptop -
