How do I adjust the height of the surface profile (eg topography, geochemistry, ground magnetics) displayed over a cross section in the layout window?

Solution

The easiest way to do this is to use Drillholes > Define New Section or Plan to specify the
section. Click the Surfaces button in this dialog to open the Surface Display Selection dialog and
add the desired surface to the right-hand window. Tick the Relative Position option and either
specify an offset or use the Auto Vertical Offset. Choose Specify Scale 1:1 and click the
Accept Settings button to use the most current settings. (if you don’t click this button the last
setting will be re-displayed). Click OK and create the section.

Display the section in a layout using the Add Section to Layout menu option and once the
section is in the layout measure the size the profile is displayed at by either using the Ruler Tool or
reading off the cms from the layout border.

Depending on the size you want to plot the profile (ie. height of 15cm) work out the vertical scale
needed to be entered back in the Surface Display Selection dialog. For example, if the current
profile is plotting at 20cm at 1:1, then enter a value of 1 : 0.75 (click on the Accept Settings
button) to display a profile at 15cms. Similarly, if the 1:1 profile is 5cm then enter a new scale of
1 : 3 to display the profile over a 15cm height.

Just remember to click the Accept Settings button when you have changed the scale for the
changes to take effect.
