What's new in version 20.0.49 (28 April 2026)

Added an option on Tools > Options > Display to display Geotiffs as vertical sections in 3D if they contain appropriate model tie points.
When saving a section as georeferenced image, added the option to save it as a Geotiff section.

The latest Datamine Discover AddIn for ArcGIS Pro (Version 2.3.361) release is now available using the link below:

This version supports ArcGIS Pro version 3.3 to 3.6. It will not support ArcGIS Pro 3.7, an upgrade will be required.

You will need to install and license ArcGIS Pro first, before installing Discover.

This is a full installer that will upgrade any previous version of Discover.

Or it can be installed on a clean/new computer.

This version of Discover for ArcGIS Pro introduces many exciting new features.

Please see appendix B of the GDA Technical Manual for a map showing the coverage of the AGD84 NTv2 file.

How do I reserve licenses for certain users?

If you have a RLM Cloud license either concurrent or named user, you may wish to reserve a license seat to always be available for a user or group.

To do this in RLM Cloud login to your admin portal here https://ls53.rlmcloud.com/rlmcloud/rcc_dashboard.php (If you do not know your login contact licensing@dataminesoftware.com for assistance)

Go to the Dashboard tab and click the options button for your server

Then to reserve a license add a line below the comment such as

RESERVE 1 DiscoverArcGIS Username

where username is their Window's username (do not include the domain/company prefix).

Save the options file, and then back on the dashboard tab, click the Reread button which restarts your server and applys the options file changes.

What Mining and Exploration formats can I import?

Discover for ArcGIS Pro adds imports and convertors for many common Mining and Exploration software file formats.

These include -

Datamine vectors, surfaces and block models (*.dm,*.dmx)

Autocad DXF vectors (*.dxf) (the discover tools is much faster then the ArcGIS tool and also preserves the integrity of solid volumes such as polyhderon ore body models).

Geosoft surface and cross section grids (*.grd)

Geosoft voxel models (*.geosoft_voxel)

Gocad vector files (*.ts, *.pl, *.vs)

LIDAR point cloud files (*.las)

How to troubleshoot installation issues?

If you are having trouble installing Discover software, the most useful information is to collect the installation log file (which is shown at the end of a failed install).

Discover always save these in folder -

C:\ProgamData\

With names such as Discover_ArcGIS_Install.log or Discover2024_Install.log. Collect all the relavent recent logs and send them to support.discover@dataminesoftware.com

This is only available as a bundle, and it installs and licenses -

Are drillhole HoleIDs case sensistive?

Yes Discover Drillhole tools was compare HoleID primary keys with case sensitive.

There is a validation option to check for Collar name mismatch, this will return any HoleID values which are not found in the Collar table, including case differences only.

It is recommonded to convert all HoleID field values to upper case to avoid issues.

Is MapInfo SQL and Expression case sensitive?

For char or string fields, MapInfo expressions and SQL statements are NOT case sensitive.

For example if a cell value was "Test" then if the expression was Value = "test" it would return true.

How do I add more WMTS or XYZ Tileserver layers in MapInfo?

Occurrence

In QGIS or ArcGIS you can link XYZ Tile Server (also known as WMTS) web layer to add more Base Maps, such as OpenStreetMaps.org. It is also used by many webmap providers such as Google Maps and Mapbox.

MapInfo Pro has the same Base Maps layer such as Bing aerial and Precisely, but how can I add more?

Solution

You can create your own TAB and XML files based on the examples in C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional\TileServer. OSM_Roads is the OpenStreeMap XYZ Tileserver example (that is no longer published in the Mapinfo menu).

In Discover 2021 a new tool was added to help you create your own Tileserver tab files.

To do this go to Discover>Import>XYZ Base maps
