My Collar Plan has structure symbols in the map, which are not rotated correctly

Occurrence

When I print my sections and add a collar plan, the rotated map view in the collar plan window has not correctly rotated the structural symbols.

Solution

This is caused by MapInfo not rotating symbols, when an affine projection is applied to rotate the map. Everything else in the map is rotated.

As a workraound, you can open the structural symbols in a blank map in the collar area. and then use IMAGES>Map to Image to save a image of the structural symbols. If you then add this image to the collar plan view, it will be rotated correctly.

How do I create stacked drillhole cross sections?

Solution

There are no tools to automatically stack drilhole cross sections.

However you can manually stack and align cross section in a layout window. To do this, use DRILLHOLES>Section Output>Print Sections, and select multiple sections you use to add in the layout. Then in the layout you can manually pan and align the sections and the frames.

When I add a Collar Plan to my scaled section output, it doesn't fit on the page

Occurrence

If you are Printing sections (Add section to layout or scaled section output), and tick the option to Add Plan of Collars to Layout the section no longer fits on the page.

Solution

This has always been a limitation of the design, as it does not require you to create and define the collar plan size first.

You will need to manually resize the section map frame to fit alongside the collar frame in the layout.

To check the scale is still correct, double left click to focus (blue highlight on frame edge) the section map, then right click and select Change View. This allows you to specify a cartographic scale.

It is also recommended to use MAP>Add to Map>Scalebar or LAYOUT>Scalebar as these are dynamic and will always display the correct scale.

I cannot change my Frame size

Occurrence

In Scaled Output or Print Sections, I cannot change the Frame Size! It is disabled and says "as selected".

Solution

When you start Scaled Output, if you have a polygon selected it will use this as the frame size.

Close Scaled Output, and go to TABLE>Selection>Clear, and then try again.

Error: �No Sections or Plans to Add to Layout Window�

Occurrence

A number of sections are open, but upon clicking the “Add Section to Layout” this error occurs.

Solution

Firstly, ensure the project is open by selecting Drillholes>Project Manager, and then click Open.

Then simply close and re-open the sections use the Drillholes>Section Manager.

This will ensure the files are correctly loaded and will be available for use in all tools.

My drillhole plans don't appear in the Add Section to Layout tool.

Plan sections are not supported in the Add Section to Layout tool, only vertical sections can be plotted.

Drillhole plans can be printed using the standard Scaled Output tool to generate a plot.

How do I customise the page frame size in Drillholes>Add Section to layout?

Solution

The frame sizes availble are determined by those available in the Discover Scaled Output tool.
To create a custom frame size navigate to Discover>Scaled Output>Config and create a custom frame, which then can used in the Drillhole Module Add Section to Layout tool.
