What are the different license models available?

PA Explorer offer 2 license models, both are subscription based and will be issued with an expiry date, after which they cannot be used.

1. Standalone

This is a traditional license that is activated and locked to a specific computer hardware. It requires an internet connection to initially activate, but afterwards does not require a connection and can be used offline.

The license can be returned via the internet to the Datamine License server, and it will be released and available to activate on a different computer. There is no limit on how many times this can be done.

If the license is 'lost' due to hardware failure or reset, it can be deactivated and released by Datamine support.

A single activation key can be used to activate multiple licenses, so a company only needs 1 key for multiple users. An admin can access a customer portal, to view who has activated it. And the last time the user has opened the software.

This is generally not suitable for virtual environments as it is locked on the physical hardware.

2. Cloud Concurrent

This is a traditional network 'floating' concurrent license model, however it is hosted by Datamine on a cloud server. No local server is required. This requires an activate internet connection to use this software. On opening the software, it will attempt to obtain a license. Then when the software is closed, the license will be automatically returned, allowing someone else to use the same license.

The license can be taken offline for a fixed period of time. This will allow the computer to use the license with no internet connection. But no one else will be able to use the license while it is offline.

An admin can access a customer portal, to view who is using the licenses, and revoke (remove) them if needed. There is also advanced admin config ...

How do I transfer or return a standalone license to a different computer to use?

1. Open PA Explorer and go to File>Licensing>Return License. Note down the activation key which you will need to activate on the other computer.

2. On the other computer install PA Explorer

3. Open PA Explorer and use the activation key to activate the standalone license

How do I take a Cloud license offline?

If you are using a Cloud Concurrent or license and you need to use PA Explorer offline -

1. Open PA Explorer and go to File>Licensing>Generate Offline License

2. Enter the number of days you would like to use the license offline. It cannot exceed the maximum limit set on the server (by default 30 days).

Note this locks the license to the computer. If you would like to return it for use on other computers, go to File>Licensing>Return Offline License.

How do I activate a cloud concurrent license?

1. Install PA Explorer

2. If you have a current standalone license, return this first by going to File>Licensing>Return License.

3. Start PA Explorer and you will be prompted to license or run as a viewer. Select License PA Explorer.

4. Select Cloud concurrent. Enter the client ID and server password that has been provided to you by your license administrator. It can also be found be logging into your Cloud Customer Portal here https://ls53.rlmcloud.com/rlmcloud/ and click the server Config.

If you have connection issues, please contact your license admin or IT support to check the required ports are open on your network connection or VPN.

How do I activate a standalone license?

1. Install PA Explorer

2. Start PA Explorer and you will be prompted to license or run as a viewer. Select License PA Explorer.

3. Select standalone and enter the activation key provided to you and click ok.
