Can I install PA Explorer 2021 64bit alongside my old PA version?

Yes, a new 64bit version of PA can be installed alongside the old 32bit PA Explorer 2020 and earlier.

However the old 32bit uses a different license system and requires a different license to be activated. You will only be able to use this is you have an license key available to use.

Note you cannot install multiple 32bit versions or multiple 64bit versions on the same computer, only 1 32bit and 1 new 64bit.

Occurrence

When running the installation of a MapInfo product I receive the message -

"The installation of xxxx has appeared to have failed. Do you want to continue the installation?"

Where xxxx refers to the name of a prerequisite.

Solution

For the named prerequisite, try downloading (i.e. form Microsoft downloads) and installing these manually. They will also fail, but with a more descriptive error message and you can contact their (i.e. Microsoft support) for troubleshooting the error in their installer.
If you do not have all prerequisites correctly installed, certain functionality of our products may not work.
