How do I control data conflicts between the desktop and mobile projects?

Solution
Located on the Mobile Project Manager dialog is the Profile option.


This allows the user to configure how data conflicts are handled.

The default behaviour when data conflicts are detected is to present the conflict and let the user decide the action manually.

Creating a profile will alleviate the constant prompting on how to handle to the conflict.


Conflict scenarios include:

  • Edited on mobile and deleted on desktop
  • Edited on both mobile and desktop
  • Deleted on mobile and edited on desktop

The user can decide to perform the following actions for the conflict:

  • Keep mobile data
  • Keep desktop data
  • Manual select

Create a Checkin Profile

1. Click on the Profile button

2. Click the New button and define a profile name, click OK


Note

When defining a name is it advised to give the name something intuitive which relates to the conflict actions.


3. On the Checkin Profile dialog select the actions for the conflict scenario, click Save.


Several profiles can be created.


Using a Checkin Profile

1. When a project is being checked in select a Checkin Profile from the Check in Mobile Project dialog.

The full list of defined profiles are listed to select.


2. Click OK, the rules defined in the checkin profile will be used.
