MapInfo Pro 64bit is not opening, no error message

Occurrence 

I am using a 64bit version of Discover MapInfo. when I start it i see a splash screen or welcome screen, but the main window does not open. There is no error message.

Solution

This is usually caused by MapInfo corrupted window settings files.

To resolve this, delete the files -
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\1700\MapInfoPro.DockingState.xml
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\1700\MapInfoPro.RibbonState.EN.xml

Where USERNAME is your windows user name, and 1700 is the MapInfo version, i.e. MapInfo 17.0 is 1700, MapInfo 16.0 is 1600.
