MapInfo Professional ODBC Error on startup

Occurrence

On starting MapInfo Pro, I receive an error message starting with "ODBC Error: ...."

Solution

This error occurs when MapInfo is unable to connect to the default ODBC database connection.

Navigate to Options>Preferences>Startup, there will be a Default DBMS Connection and either press Clear or use Set.. to correct this setting to a valid connection.
